MICKEY SMID

I am an Amsterdam- based composer and sounddesigner. This website
features clips from film and television that highlight my musical
genres and soundeffects. My studio is located in the west of Amsterdam,
near the Westergas fabriek.

I specialize in:

- Music compositions for TV-commercials / Theatre / Film
- Soundeffects for TV / Film / Animation

Together with Peter Smid I run a modest analog and digital audio
recording studio that has been in the music making business since 1993.
The studio has 2 rooms, one bigger one with a piano, hammond m3, ludwig
drumkit, wurlitzer, clavinet, banjo, ukulele, martin guitars, several
guitar cabinets and hundreds of accoustic instruments to play with.

The other room is for mixing and post production.

I specialize in composing music in these styles:

- Retro soul, funk, folk, 50/60/70ies sounding productions (a dirty
sound, rich with harmonic distortion)

- A cleaner light accoustic music for series or children's programs

- Modern electronic music for films or commercials

We have been gear-junkies for a few years now and we work with Telefunken
v72 pre-amps, Neve pre-amps, Studer tape machienes, sixties Fender
P-bass and Telecasters. We use Lavry converters and Focal Twin
monitors, Toft ATB mixer. Mics we use are: Neuman U87, Pearlman TM1,
AEA R84, Beyer m160.
